The Grand Traverse would not be possible without the commitment from numerous dedicated volunteers.

On course positions require avalanche training and volunteers must have their own beacon, shovel and probe. You must be on skis (no motorized vehicles) and be able to transport yourself in/out of the back country unassisted. Medical training or EMT qualifications are preferred.

Volunteers at gear check on Thursday and Friday can sign up for full or half day positions to help racers through the check-in process. Those interested in working Friday night at the start will help with loading racer bags, hanging/taking down banners, assisting in SPOT distribution and beacon checks. Aspen volunteers are especially needed at the Finish area all day Saturday, as well as the awards party Saturday evening.

If you wish to place yourself into our volunteer database, please submit contact information via the form below.

The Grand Traverse Race Committee thanks all the dedicated volunteers who enable the race to take place annually! All volunteers will be invited to attend the post-race Volunteer Appreciation party held the week following the race in Crested Butte. Volunteers who attend will be entered into an raffle of sponsor donated prizes.
